Personal Philosophy for Teaching Families
The definition of “family” may vary from each individual, but it is essential to respect and acknowledge different family structures or configurations. Family plays a vital role in our life and should offer a strong foundation of moral, emotional, and physical support. The family unit plays an important role in our society. Effective and positive communication along with a sense of stability will aid families in functioning efficiently.
As a family educator, I will combine transaction and transformative perspectives. I believe learners are capable of rational thought and active involvement in their learning experience. Although learners are diverse and unique, we all share many basic needs and concerns.
I will be aware of appropriate sources of information so I can make referrals and research topics when necessary. Family life education content should reach and consider all varieties of cultures and backgrounds.
I recognize and respect that individuals learn differently and thrive in different learning environments.
